This ride was conventionally smaller than recent rides. We had 11 riders and a first time rider Dave on his pearl white Boulevarde C50-T and hi-vis jacket. Dave is a good mate of mine, like Mark, who I’ve known for just over 30 years.
We had Mick, Lee, Paul, Marcelo, Anton, Brendan, Jarrod, Mark, Dave, Phillip and Vena. Vena rode with us on our last trip to Nerriga, back then on a Kawasaki Vulcan, this time on a Harley Sportster.
The Illawarra riders (Paul, Lee & Marcelo) met at Mt.Keira lookout. We headed up to Engadine where we met the rest of the group.
As you all know I like to keep to schedule, and so we headed off right on time. We headed towards the northern entrance of the Royal National Park at Loftus and enjoyed the ride right through to Bald Hill.
Riders: Paul, Mick (bringing out the Bavarian postie bike for it’s first Random Ride), Tony (onboard his New KTM1290 Adventurer), Marcelo, Al, Jason, Ray, Kenneth, Stephen, Jake, Roy, Craig, Jarrod & Brendan.
New to our ride was Craig (Honda CBR1000RR), Jarrod (GSXR-600) and Brendan (Ducati Panigale 848). Thanks for joining us on the day gents, you are most welcome to come along anytime on future rides.
After a quick phone call to Allan, he realised he was at the wrong meeting point and quickly made his way to us at KFC at Albion Park. Once all the fuel top-ups were complete, we set off with the sports bikes leading the way up the Pass and on to Robbo for a brief stop.
The group hadn’t ridden since February (Nerriga) and this planned ride was cancelled initially due to poor weather. Mother Nature was smiling on this day, and we enjoyed beautiful weather all day, albeit a bit chilly in places.
9 randoms (+1) participated in this ride (Tom and his daughter Christie [Honda], Steve [Honda], Al [Kawasaki], Nas [Honda], Greg [Kawasaki], Mick [Triumph], Wayne [Harley], Marcello [Triumph] and myself [Triumph]).
Five Randoms Riders made their way to Cowan between Christmas and New Year to cap off 2016. Those riders were Harley Mark, Harley Croppy (who joined us on the St.Albans ride), Kenneth, Allan and Paul.
The Wollongong lads met at Cholesterol Corner at Fairymeadow before meeting the Sutherland boys at Macca’s Engadine. In true form, Mark who lived the closest was the last to arrive.
We set of at around 9.30am and headed into the city via Taren Point, Brighton Le Sands and the Airport Tunnel. Traffic was quite heavy and I as we approached the tunnel, I didn’t get over to the left in time and we were bound to Botany. Mick would’ve been proud of me leading the group astray but we found an exit and safely joined the flow of traffic towards the city.
