Our next ride has us meeting once again at the Mt.Keira Lookout. Illawarra and Macarthur riders should plan to arrive here between 7 – 7.15am for a departure at 7.30am SHARP!!
We’ll head north along the Old Princes Highway to Heathcote and stop at Engadine Macca’s to meet up with Harley Mark & Gixi Jarod. we will depart Macca’s at 8.30am.
From there we’ll enter the Royal National Park at Loftus and ride through to Bald Hill for a 30 minute stop to check out the view and the many bikes & cars that congregate here.
If we keep to schedule, we will leave Bald hill at 9.35am and head down to cross the Seacliff bridge and on to the Wollongong Head Lighthouse for the next scheduled stop.
We’ll setoff at 10.45am for the longest leg of the trip (1hr 15min) to our lunch destination at Barawang (just east of Robertson). This leg will take us along Northcliff Drive for views of Lake Illawarra, across to the Princes Highway through Dapto [and a fuel stop] and along the picturesque Mount Marshall Drive to Albion Park. We’ll turn right on to Tongarra Road and head up Macquarie Pass, straight past the Pie Shop and on to Burrawang for lunch.
Riders: Paul, Mick (bringing out the Bavarian postie bike for it’s first Random Ride), Tony (onboard his New KTM1290 Adventurer), Marcelo, Al, Jason, Ray, Kenneth, Stephen, Jake, Roy, Craig, Jarrod & Brendan.
New to our ride was Craig (Honda CBR1000RR), Jarrod (GSXR-600) and Brendan (Ducati Panigale 848). Thanks for joining us on the day gents, you are most welcome to come along anytime on future rides.
After a quick phone call to Allan, he realised he was at the wrong meeting point and quickly made his way to us at KFC at Albion Park. Once all the fuel top-ups were complete, we set off with the sports bikes leading the way up the Pass and on to Robbo for a brief stop.
The group hadn’t ridden since February (Nerriga) and this planned ride was cancelled initially due to poor weather. Mother Nature was smiling on this day, and we enjoyed beautiful weather all day, albeit a bit chilly in places.
9 randoms (+1) participated in this ride (Tom and his daughter Christie [Honda], Steve [Honda], Al [Kawasaki], Nas [Honda], Greg [Kawasaki], Mick [Triumph], Wayne [Harley], Marcello [Triumph] and myself [Triumph]).
Five Randoms Riders made their way to Cowan between Christmas and New Year to cap off 2016. Those riders were Harley Mark, Harley Croppy (who joined us on the St.Albans ride), Kenneth, Allan and Paul.
The Wollongong lads met at Cholesterol Corner at Fairymeadow before meeting the Sutherland boys at Macca’s Engadine. In true form, Mark who lived the closest was the last to arrive.
We set of at around 9.30am and headed into the city via Taren Point, Brighton Le Sands and the Airport Tunnel. Traffic was quite heavy and I as we approached the tunnel, I didn’t get over to the left in time and we were bound to Botany. Mick would’ve been proud of me leading the group astray but we found an exit and safely joined the flow of traffic towards the city.
